If you’re looking for something livelier, you can head to the towns of Praia da Rocha and Portimao right across the river. It’ll take you just 5-7 minutes on a water taxi to get to these livelier towns for some real nightlife.

If you’re looking for pure beach time fun, then anytime from May to October is good. The temperatures in these initially are quite comfortable and the mercury eventually rises to low 30s during August. The cool wind from the Atlantic is quite soothing on the long sunny days. You might also like to attend the Festa da Nossa Senhora da Conceicao, dedicated to the Patron saint of Ferragudo on the last Sunday of August.
