On Lanzarote’s southeast coast lies the chic resort of Puerto Calero. Created by developer Jose Calero back in the eighties, Puerto Calero is an extravagant and stylish resort. Jose Calero put in a stylish marina and added to it a host of luxury hotels, boutiques, waterfront restaurants and cafes, thus then came into existence Puerto Calero. All inclusive Puerto Calero has a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Miles and miles of untouched natural beauty and a resort with great facilities that’s what cheap all inclusive holidays in Puerto Calero are all about.
Holidays in Puerto Calero don’t come with a beach. But let’s not be sad as the trio of beaches in Puerto Del Carmen is just 10 minutes away. The smallest Playa Chica is by the old harbor and is the hub of watersports in the resort. Then there’s breezy Playa Pocillos attracting kite surfers from all over. While, the Playa Grande is the main beach with lots of sand and a lovely promenade lined with bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. On the Playa Grande you’ll find plenty of sun beds and parasols, there’ll be masseurs offering massages and vendors selling ice-cream.
The nightlife on holidays all inclusive in Puerto Calero is limited to a few bars and restaurants on the seafront. The bars often play good music or at times have live entertainment apart from this there’s always the option of a romantic dinner on one of the seaside restaurants under the starlit sky. There are no such places of evening entertainment or activities in Puerto Calero. For those wanting a more lively evening and party scene, heading to Puerto Del Carmen is the right option. Puerto Del Carmen which is a five minute drive from the resort is known as the party capital of the island.
When to go:
Puerto Calero enjoys mild temperatures throughout the year. Though the best time for Puerto Calero holidays are during the summer and autumn months, but as the resort enjoys favorable climate all year round, one can enjoy the resort in winters as well.
Spain and fiestas are synonymous. The island of Lanzarote too enjoys the Spanish fiestas and carnivals like other parts of Spain. The main fiesta of the island which takes place in Arrecife some 20km north of Puerto Calero is celebrated at the beginning of Lent. Apart from this there’s the Fiesta of San Juan and fiesta of Corpus Christi etc. These events and fiestas are worth experiencing at least once.
