Kalamaki beach is where the loggerhead sea turtles that are decreasing in numbers lay their eggs, for this reason the beach is protected by the Greek laws, making the beach be classified as one of Zante’s national maritime parks.

You can hire a bike and get lost in the luxurious resort or take a walk on the main road, window-shopping or dining. On the main road there is a mini golf court that anyone can take part. The most adventurous tourist can go for a go-kart track found on the main road of Kalamaki-Laganas.

There is also a pedalo (a pleasure boat) for hire, so you can relax and watch the natural loggerhead sea turtle in its natural habitat. Water-sports are a no-no, because of the strict laws for the loggerhead turtles’ protection.

Kalamaki food

Whether you want a grilled sole or a tender souvlaki, you will find it, as Kalamaki holidays have a name for the best dishes on the island. There are beef stifado, chicken souvlaki, which come perfectly home-cooked. There is the baklava that comes with pistachio ice-cream.

Nightlife in Kalamaki

Kalamaki holiday nightlife is fairly quiet when compared to Argasi and Laganas nightlife. You will find many karaoke bars and pubs that remain open until dawn. The majority of nightlife can be found at the main road or a few on the mountain slope with impressive views.

The best time to go

In July and August, temperatures for all inclusive Kalamaki are usually high. This time of year always experiences long days of sunshine that attract tourists to the island. Also, spring and autumn are warm. Since winter temperatures usually reach double figures, Kalamaki is not open for visitors between the months of November and April.

In Kalamaki you will find many hotels, studios or apartments that are located close to the Kalamaki beach. Although there are rarely any studios or hotels on the beach, because of the strict law protecting the turtles, nevertheless, there are a number of holiday apartments and studios among the beautiful gardens nearby and in a comfortable distance to the beach at a cheap all inclusive prices.
