Brief Description

The resort of Agrigento is swept throughout bleak hills a few miles upcountry away from the coastline with outstanding sites of interest and closer to the coast, peppered with expansive sections of first-class sandy beaches. You are certain of a good tan when you choose an all inclusive Agrigento holiday and the chance to visit some superb beaches within the general area. The main reason for anyone wanting to go on Agrigento holidays is the interest in the surrounding archaeological spots.

Agrigento can lay claim to amazing, protected early Greek and Roman places of worship that are visibly peppered by the side of the summits that have become known as the Valley of Temples. Families are among the tourists that will enjoy a break in Agrigento, and our all inclusive boards can include your activities which will incorporate tours of the archaeological zones.

The main resort of Agrigento itself is a combination of unimaginative modern residential and commercial buildings mixed with some fine medieval and Renaissance churches, while the seafront suburb of San Leone is a more mundane development of tourist accommodation and services that families can enjoy fantastic holidays in this part Italy.

Suitable for:

An all inclusive holiday in Agrigento will appeal to enthusiastic families and holidaymakers that are well into early history, and photographers that like to blend their holidays with sightseeing and traditional beach holidays.

Hotels:

Agrigento will supply ample accommodation that will suit almost every budget and style. There is a decent choice of all inclusive properties which will include most things that are needed for a holiday in this region.  Not only seafront hotels but there are a good choice of 3 and 4 star hotels, and self-catering accommodation right up and through the countryside.

Beaches:

Agrigento offer a choice of beaches for your holidays, beautiful plush sands run along the coast. The main resort of San Leonoe being the most desirable of these, and with the shallow waters in the area make it suitable for kids to splash around and have fun on their holiday. As with most good beaches there is a range of water activities that can be enjoyed, from jet-skiing to pedaloes.

Shopping:

Agrigento will provide inadequate quality shopping although the majority of tourists on holiday only want the basics and perhaps a little souvenir shopping which Agrigento does with perfection. Souvenirs in Agrigento include a good range of books and paintings containing the local attractions.

Activities:

As you can imagine the entertainment on a holiday in Agrigento will be concentrated around the superbly well-kept temples and other stung remnants of ancient Rome that are scattered all around the Valley of Temples and for the majority of tourists this is why they are here. Meanwhile night fall sees the emergence of great bars, restaurants and even a disco around the seafront at San Leone and the centre of the Agrigento.

Meanwhile if you are into eating and you have not chosen to go all inclusive then make avail of the little stalls and a few cafes which can be located with outstanding value. There is a good array of other relaxed dining experiences in and around the lively seafront of San Leone.

Getting around the neighbouring areas is simple and there is an excellent bus that functions between the Agrigento resort centre and the beach areas and of course to the Valley of the Temples. A decent public hire taxi service is available that will take you to your choice of sites.

If you have not chosen to go all inclusive to Agrigento that would include trips as part of your holiday package then you will have to book a trip locally. Many of these can be organised from where you are staying, but you can also find many tours around the town centre.
