Slotted nicely between Hersonissos and Malia, Stalis is probably the most relaxed and easy going with the nicest residents anywhere in Crete. It was not too long ago that it was still a fishing village, but there has been substantial tourist growth in the past twenty years. Without doubt the best quality here is the little beach bars where there is plenty of people every day getting liquid replenishments, one of the best beaches in Crete and terrific watersports.

We went to the moonlight hotel on at the end of last year; the weather was still quite good. We were met by the manageress who showed us to our room at the back of the hotel. First impressions were that it was lovely and clean. We hired a fridge, which although we knew about think that it should be included free. She informed us we could use the facilities if hotel Ariadne next door, which again we were already aware off. So we emptied the suitcase and in less than ten minutes were on the sandy beach at Stalis.
There is a selection of restaurants to choose from here, and you are sure to find food to suit any taste. A super and unlimited supply of breakfast was included, juice from the bar and a selection of fresh fruit, breakfast cereal, yoghurt, tea, coffee, toast, honey or marmalade.
Very clean, the rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed every other day, or as required. One thing about the toilets, which is hard to get used to, you have to put the used toilet paper in the bin beside the toilet.
We went at the end of the season and everything was winding down for the winter. This time is perfect for the elderly and young families. A lot quieter and prices are lower for almost everything. People in Crete are always happy to help tourists and all the guests we met staying at the Moonlight Hotel were very happy with facilities and service.

This was a really perfect place for week’s holiday. The moonlight hotel itself was very clean with a great variety of food at mealtime. Resting on the terrace, soaking up the sun was a wonderful way to begin the day. The staff were so pleasant and caring. The bar in the evening was an escape very popular! The food at Stalis was quite reasonable and of a high standard, with realistic prices.
My holiday overall I would describe as brilliant value and the moonlight hotel I could not praise highly sufficiently…Which I would go back to in a flash.
