A holiday to Albir is just along the coast from Benidorm but has a very different atmosphere. This is a pleasantly peaceful hot spot with a spacious beach offering quiet sunbathing and pleasant promenade walks. This carefully maintained hotel and resort has a peaceful residential atmosphere. The town has a significant resident British community.

An enjoyably tranquil nightlife scene is a world away from Benidorm. Most tourists are happy to appreciate the friendly atmosphere of local bars and restaurants. The great shingle beach tends to attract older holidaymakers looking for an unhurried holiday stage. Albir beach never feels crowded and is easy to combine with neighbouring accommodations.

As well as Benidorm you may enjoy the sophisticated town of Altea, one of the most attractive small towns on the Costa Blanca. Allinclusive to Albir could combine beach relaxation with golf, racket sports, bowls, carnivals and tours to charming hill villages like Guadalest and Altea la Vieja.

When to go to Albir

Albir all inclusive family holidays are available month in month out thanks to an especially sunny climate and hot winter weather. Spring is a delightful time, with local residents gearing up for summer and acres of space on the beach. The mountainous interior reaches its colourful best. There is an appealingly tranquil atmosphere in late summer. A large British resident community keeps the holiday resort alive in the winter months.

Holiday deals in busy summer will find neighbouring Benidorm at its liveliest. June and September are considerably quieter than July and August but enjoy almost identical weather. Albir never feels crowded even in the busy school holiday season.

The weather in Albir

Few regions in Spain could compete with the Mediterranean coast in terms of sunshine. An especially long summer sees day after day of uninterrupted sunshine without excessive heat. Average highs in August are a perfect 31º. Lovely evening temperatures around 20º are excellent for pavement cafes and dining establishment terraces. June and September are equally good. Stunning sun bathing weather usually continues throughout November in addition to into November.

Winters are mild. Expect an average 5-6 hours a day of bright hot sunshine and temperatures around 17º in January and February. Spring is an absolute delight. Average highs hit 20º as early as March.

Getting the best deal to Albir

The earlier you search the better. Albir is a holiday resort where loyal visitors return year after year. Early booking will make sure a wider choice of places to stay and apartments. The best-rated hotels soon fill up in July and August. Most Spaniards also holiday at this time.

Albir all inc hols are often significantly cheaper in June and September. Also watch out for bargains in spring and autumn, when Albir has a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere. Airport and transport need to know

Package late holiday deals to Albir will usually include a flight to Alicante (ALC), a major Spanish airport with an abundance of shops and restaurants. Alicante is extremely well served from the UK, with low-cost airlines flying anytime and additional charter flights in the summer. There are plenty of flights from London, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham. You will find also departures from regional airports including Liverpool, Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Cardiff. Flight time is about 2 hours 30 minutes. Albir is also accessible from Valencia Airport (VLC).

Transfer time from Alicante is about an hour. A taxi will cost about €80-90 (£70-£80). Direct vehicles run from the airport to Benidorm or perhaps you could take the airport bus into Alicante and then a bus to Albir.

The transfer is a quick and straightforward journey on the fast motorway heading for Benidorm. Take care if driving on narrow roads in the foothills. Drive on the right. Within the holiday resort there is an extremely good cheap local bus service to Benidorm and Altea.

The best sandy beaches in Albir

Costa Blanca shorelines have always been really popular with UK holidaymakers. The region excels when it comes to well-equipped family sandy beaches with well-maintained facilities and quick entry to places to stay, shops, places to eat and nightlife. The main holiday resort sandy beaches have sunbeds and parasols for hire. Neighbouring resort hotels are easily accessed by tours, coast paths and long seafront promenades.

Playa de Raco de l’Albir will be the main resort beach. Here is a wide spacious 600m stretch of great shingle and pebbles which in turn is easy on the feet. This is a very good beach for quiet tanning. Excellent water quality has ensured Blue Flag status for most years running. There is an area for beach games, a couple of playgrounds and plenty of sunbeds for hire. There are well-maintained toilets and lifeguards in the summer season. A choice of water sport specialists offers well-reputed courses in a variety of board sports, water skiing, sailing, snorkelling and parasailing. There is a good choice of cafes, bars and dining places close to the beach.

For more seclusion you can go to the small nudist beach by the lighthouse. You will also discover a series of unspoilt coves around the headland at the end of the beach known as Sierra Helada. Walking the continuous beachfront promenade from Albir is a great way to visit the upmarket resort of Altea.

There can be the choice to visit the superb beaches of neighbouring resorts. For a complete contrast in atmosphere you could help to make the 20 minute bus trip into Benidorm. The nightlife gets all the attention but many people forget that Benidorm has two of the very finest sandy beaches in Spain. Both Playa Levante and Playa Poniente are tremendous shorelines and always provide plenty of entertainment and spectacle. Here you will have lots to do in the day and an inexhaustible choice of places to eat and taverns at night. For those who stay out late an affordable taxi ride will take you home.
