The resort of Praia da Rocha also gives its name to the beach Praia da Rocha – or perhaps it’s the other way around! It is one of a string of beaches that form the Portimão coastline, although it is the longest and widest so there is no rubbing sun-tan-lotioned-shoulders with your neighbours, even during the height of summer. Your holidays in Praia da Rocha will be cool but comfy from November to April (16-20º maximum daytime temperatures), to hot and steamy during high summer, when it can reach the high twenties in July and August, with twelve hours of sun and blue skies. The cooling breeze wafting off the Atlantic helps to keep the body comfortable, but even in the shade the temperature can reach a lethargy-making mid-20’s.
