Airport and transport need to know
Ibiza town is just a 15-minute drive away from Ibiza’s airport, which connects to all the UK’s main airports. During the season it can get quite busy, but there is plenty of space and some great shopping to while away the time waiting for your flight. The ferries also dock here from mainland Spain.
From Ibiza town you can take buses, taxis and even water-taxis to any part of the island. There is also the special DiscoBus that will take you to all of the major clubs on a route from Ibiza Town to San Antonio.
From here you can also get a short ferry ride to the neighbouring island of Formentera, whose unspoilt character will make you want to visit again.
The best beaches in the Ibiza Town area
The beaches in Ibiza are many and varied; the great thing about the island is that it is small enough to take in a number of them during your stay. Beaches range from white sand fringed coves to golden stretches of open coast and all in between.
Best beach for lazing on a sun lounger
A short walk from the centre of Ibiza town is the beach of Figueretas. Many excellent restaurants and bars serve this golden sand beach. The promenade that backs onto the beach comes alive at night with stalls selling handmade jewellery and clothing.
Best beach for activities
The nearby beach of Playa d’en Bossa offers a huge range of activities, from water-sports or beach volleyball to clubbing. There is even a big water-park filled with slides and pools, perfect for kids of all ages. There are also some very beautiful walks along the cliffs to the south of the beach.
Best beach for complete isolation
Es Trucadores is a narrow sand spit in the north of Formentera that is well worth a visit. Very little facilities and hardly any shade at all mean that you have to come with everything but it’s worth it as the beach is quiet, clean and fringed with white sand on two sides. Even if it does start to get busy, the strip is so long there is always a place to get far away from the madding crowd. There are many ferries from Ibiza town and the crossing can take up to an hour.
The weather in Ibiza Town
During peak season, temperatures can regularly top 28 degrees in the Town. Up to 10 hours of blue sky can be seen in July and August. Winters are mild in Ibiza, temperatures never really drop below 8 degrees at night and frequently reach the late teens during the day. Months to avoid are October and November because of a higher chance of rainfall.

Ibiza town has started to market itself as an all-year round destination and its cosmopolitan nature has meant that tourists are starting to favour it as a city-break destination even in low-season and winter. There is always something to do here but if you are coming for a clubbing holiday then super-clubs like Pacha and Space are open in the season, which runs from June to September.
